tozero co-founder Sarah Fleischer to leave operational role

Munich, September 18, 2026 After more than four years as Co-Founder and Managing Director, Sarah Fleischer is going to start a new chapter and is stepping down from her executive role at the company. The main target to bring tozero to its phase of industrial scale-up was successfully achieved. Sarah co-founded tozero and has contributed significantly to the company’s development from an early-stage startup into a growing European deep-tech company.
“Building tozero from the very beginning has been an extraordinary journey. I am proud of what the team has achieved and grateful to everyone who has been part of it and of tozero’s progress towards its mission of bringing lithium-ion battery waste tozero and enabling a truly circular battery industry,” said Sarah Fleischer.
Co-Founder and Managing Director Dr. Ksenija Neumann will continue to lead the company into its next chapter. The focus will be scaling tozero’s technology and progressing towards its first industrial plants.

During her tenure, Sarah helped build tozero from its earliest founding days and successfully brought the company together with Ksenija to the phase of industrial scale-up, laying the foundation for the next stage of the company’s development. During this period, tozero raised a total of €14.5 million in equity funding from investors including NordicNinja, Verve and Atlantic, Honda, JGC Group, and IQT. In addition, the company received €2.5 million in grant funding from the European Innovation Council.
